We are all aware of the fact that Pankaj Batra’s next movie is the Punjabi remake of the year’s biggest MArathi hit Sairaat.
We had also told you that Punjabi singer Ninja will be making his acting debut with this one and his leading lady would be a new face, the auditions of which are currently underway. (shayad kudi mil gai honi hun tk ta)
Anyways, what we’ve come to know now is that the Punjabi version of Sairaat will be slightly different from the original. It will be visually brighter and the film will be shot on the Punjab-Rajasthan border.
Also, in the original film, the couple escape to Andhra Pradesh whereas in the Punjabi version, they’ll go to Himachal Pradesh. The team will be shooting in winter so as to capture the snow.
Despite the changes, Batra intends to keep the film’s soul intact. “The romance remains the same with changes made to the story and treatment. Punjab doesn’t have a caste problem so our story is about power play and egos. The girl’s father is an MLA who owns a lot of land, her lover’s father works on one of his farms. But in our film too, the girl is confident and bold while the boy is naïve,” Batra told Mumbai Mirror.
Sairat’s soundtrack was a huge hit, including the party number Zingat and Batra assures that the Punjabi version’s music will also live up to the audience expectations.
The scrip of the movie has been locked and the team is looking to release the film on July 14.
Buzz is, a Hindi remake is also being planned. It will reportedly introduce Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi opposite Suneil Shetty’s son Ahan.
